Considering Adoption?

Adoption isn’t an easy decision. It is a major life transition, and many emotions are involved. But it may be the best choice for you and your child.

Contrary to what you may have heard from loved ones or seen in movies, adoption isn’t abandoning your child. It’s quite the opposite. Adoption is an incredible act of love that enables your child to have the best life possible.

Sanctity of Life Center’s advocates will discuss adoption with you in a caring environment, including the available plans. We won’t pressure you into making any pregnancy decision. Instead, we’re here to be a no-cost and confidential resource when you need us most.

Open Adoption

Open adoption is the most common adoption plan in the United States. Choosing this plan means you’ll form a lasting relationship with the adoptive family and child. You’ll play an active role in the child’s life, and they’ll know where they came from.

Communication can occur through visits, phone calls, letters, and more. You can discuss your preferences with the adoptive family and determine what works best for you.

Semi-Open Adoption

Semi-open adoptions aren’t as common, but they’re still an option. With this plan, you’ll have contact with the adoptive family, but it occurs through a third party (like an adoption attorney or agency).

Closed Adoption

Closed adoptions ensure complete confidentiality. Women may choose this plan for several reasons, but remember that you can choose what you’re most comfortable with.

With a closed adoption, you won’t know the adoptive family or child. All identifying records are sealed.

Making a Decision

You alone can make a pregnancy decision and should never be coerced into selecting adoption. As the birth mother, you have the final say in all stages of the adoption process. You can choose the adoptive family, plan, and more.

You won’t pay for any adoption services and may be entitled to additional financial, material, and emotional support. Meeting with an adoption expert is crucial so you understand the process and can make an informed decision.

Sanctity of Life Center provides no-cost counseling. Our team cares about your well-being, and we can refer you to adoption agencies if needed.
